The Claudine Robbins Estate RFP

The Claudine Robbins Estate RFP is a comprehensive scheme for taking the first steps in creating an artists’ estate from an unprocessed archival collection.

In the Art Documentation course, our group created a Request for Proposal with the goal of gaining control over the collection of archival materials and works of art bequeathed by Claudine Robbins, a deceased sculptor, to her cousin, Astrid Nelson. We conceived a local metadata schema through concept mapping and creating a crosswalk of CCO, CDWA, and Dublin Core. From these metadata elements we created a plan for cataloging and documenting the collection.

As a part of this plan, we incorporated a workflow for the imaging of the collection, including software and systems recommendations, budgeting, staffing, and timeline for completion. Our methodology stressed interoperability to provide options for the materials under Astrid Nelson’s care as they are sold or donated to museums and archives in the future, beyond the scope of this RFP.

This project demonstrates my understanding and ability to apply foundational information science concepts in a specific use case, including knowledge of metadata schemas, controlled vocabularies, concept mapping, cataloging, preservation, digitization, budgeting, timelines, and content management systems.
